With 11 Days Left in Medicare's 2013 Annual Enrollment Period, eHealth Study Finds 92% of Participants Not in Plan With Lowest Total Out-of-Pocket Costs

Ninety-two percent (92%) of Medicare beneficiaries are not currently enrolled in the Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP) or Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan (MAPD) with the lowest total out-of-pocket costs available to them, according to new research from eHealth, Inc. (NASDAQ: EHTH). eHealth's 2013 Medicare AEP Snapshot Survey based on over 3,000 user sessions from PlanPrescriber.com during the first three weeks of Medicare's 2013 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) found that the average Medicare beneficiary who switched to the plan with the lowest total out-of-pocket costs in 2013 could save over $600.

Unpaid Caregivers Struggle with Finances, Personal Relationships and Helping Parents Navigate Medicare, eHealth/AgingCare Survey Finds

About one-third of adults who provide unpaid care for their elderly parents say they’ll have to use their own retirement savings to help their parents financially. Even more - forty-one percent (41%) - support their parents financially each month, helping with a range of expenses, including food, gas, housing, prescription drugs and medical care. And while the majority of respondents (89%) care for someone on Medicare, forty-four percent (44%) of these caregivers don’t understand important components of the program.
